.: Ear Cropping :.

In Europe it is prohibited to crop any dog and while I was totally against it I learned that it can be a good thing to do it (an ear infection in a natural Dane can get quite nasty here in Florida!)

I own naturals and I own cropped Danes - and I am sorry, I have to admit that I do like the look of a cropped ear!

There is no medical reason to have it done, it is personal preference! But before you make a decision let me tell you about it ...

A cropped ear:

  • is a surgery with all involved risks of anaesthesia!
  • is a lot of mainting work in addition to raise, socialize and train the pup! (It takes about 30 minutes to tape up ears and it needs to be done every 5 to 10 days for at least 6 months)
  • can take up to 2 years until it is fully errect!
  • is no guarantee that the ear will actually stand!
  • is more prone to get dirty! =o)

Therefore we will crop the puppies by a state lisenced vet at our risk, we will take care of the healing process and you or an experienced vet needs to take care of the taping. There is nothing more unattractive than a cropped Dane with floppy ears!!!

We picked a vet who does wonderful ear art - we want our puppies to look beautiful not just cropped! I also want to be 1000% sure my baby got the best veternarian care during and after the surgery!
